ECU National Panhellenic sororities, along with most NPC sororities, have a lot of restrictions on how many socials they can have in a month along with very strict rules regarding frat parties and alcohol. When I was in a sorority at ECU in late 90s it was way different. 2-3 socials a week. My second semester I'd come home to my house so wasted I couldn't climb the stairs to my room and passed out on the couch downstairs. But there were real clubs back then. Real Greek bars. But, today, with so many restrictions, there has to be more of a focus on philanthropy and sisterhood to fill up the time that used to be spent partying weekly years ago. If any partying is not your thing, there are many service sororities. Regardless of your choice, it's all about how you want your college years to be. I didn't feel pressured to conform to the general party culture back then. I was just a party animal, very wild already. No one forcibly puts a drink in your hand but I was a force to be reckoned with, so anyone telling me to do certain things would get my loud mouth. But a NPC sorority is very expensive and this is coming from one of the most spoiled sorority girls. I'm not here trolling. I just find it interesting to see what Greek life on my campus is like today. You know, the rumors and such that you compare to your memories. We didn't have social media back then. I was only one of a few students with an actual cell phone so if that gives a picture of how different things were.
