Parties

Poster Message:
A lot of the issue with duquesne Greek life seems to be the party situation, but unfortunately that's out of the hands of anyone you mentioned. Because we don't have on-campus housing, parties at fraternity houses can't be registered with the university, making them not allowed and increasing the consequences of getting caught having them, which makes them the mediocre and occasional events they often are. Legally (not just duquesne rules, state of pa laws), any event with alc needs to be at a registered third party venue and alcohol needs to be served by a designated bartender who will monitor consumption and make sure nobody under 21 is drinking. If we had campus housing (not towers) Greek life could put the policies into place to make parties less high-risk. Unfortunately, there's nothing panhel, ifc, rebecca. Dr Frizzell, or president gormley can do about the state laws and alcohol regulations. Too long didn't read: it's not Rebecca's fault that there are laws that make Greek life less exciting than it is at pitt and other univeristies, don't blame her.
