Subject:
should greek week be overhauled?

Poster Message:
I think a common issue with most chapters was that it was incredibly hard to get members new and old to actually show up and do events. There seemed to be a larger lack of interest this year more than others. I think one major issue is that when it comes down to it there isn't really a prize for winning. You get to trophy, bragging rights for about a month, and then it's over. No factor into President's Cup, no insentive. They try to feed you that it's Greek unity, but the entire buildup is trying to out class each other and find ways to throw other groups under the bus. Not to mention the money "raised" for charity is slightly untrue too. We don't really raise money. We get charged $5 for Greek God and Greek Sing and that's us "raising" money. One we get points for and the other is generally required by chapters. The charity is not something anyone actually cares about. Then there's the repetition from year to year. Take formal sing for example. Off the top of my head at least 9 organizations sang a song that they've sang in the last 3 years. 5 of which sang a song they sang a year before. There's no spins, no twists, nothing to differentiate year to year except the theme and even then pretty much anyone Sing could be used. I think Greek Week has gotten to the point where it needs to change. Be something different to even the playing field a bit. Continued:
