<strong>Subject:</strong><br />hierarchy at duke<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Social climbing is prevalent at Duke. Many top tier groups fall to this. Let me inform you that yes top groups can be OK and the girls in the top sororities are quite a lot hotter than the other chicks. But the fact is, I dislike a certain top tier sorority. Nothing personal, just found them to be shallow etc. When a lot of these chicks hit on me, it was very pointless as I disliked them. Just a note to everyone to not chase a hierarchy spot but who you really like. Even if a top group is cooler but you don't match that, it may not be good for you. Find a group that you truly like. Chasing a hierarchy spot is empty. Duke is a place guaranteed to have serious issues. The whole greek system is dominated by hierarchy and exclusivity, and this makes a very empty life for many people. Find people you like period, in both frats and sororities. Also just a note, but are people seriously segregating by their parent's money? To me this is another way to make fake friends. Personally I find the whole Duke ladder very shallow, stupid, and pointless. It's best if you make real friends at Duke, and not one's because your dad is rich and made some company that is doing well in NYC or whatever it is. Duke is very distant from the real world, and in the real world, I don't think anyone cares who your parents are. So this whole ranking thing by money will last for basically no longer than your Duke career. In the real world, if your dad is the director of a big investment bank, no one cares, because if you're a terrible person, you still will not be appreciated by anyone, and no chance of getting a promotion to any position based on your roots, as it's determined by your own personal value.
