since the OP is snarky and self righteous let me explain tiers to you. of course the social tiers are no 'authorized' or 'official'. they are much more than that. the fraternities and sororities are like two sides of a ladder and the rungs are the tiers. the fraternities and sororities at the top of the social order are linked by the rungs at the top. see the above posts about DG screaming at their pledges for not attending delt and pike socials. the top fraternities are linked together with the top sororities at the top of the ladder, and on down the ladder to the bottom. down there you'll find the newest chapters socializing with each other. so, no, there are never going to be any official recognition of tiers by the school or greek life. the tiers are much more real than that.
