The term has spread and is now used to describe the oldest fraternities and sororities at any school. Old Row fraternities/sororities are typically the top houses and usually don't socialize with new row fraternities/sororities. SAE, KA, Sigma Chi, Kappa Sig, and Phi Delt are the most common top houses in the SEC. Other fraternities that are also typically strong throughout the south are Sig Nu, ATO, FIJI, Pike, and Pi Kapp. Since FSU used to be an all girls school, we don't have an "old row", which is why fraternities like Phi Sig, Phi Tau, and Theta Chi are more popular here, despite being not as poplar nationally.
