Yes, but you're assuming that the Porche would be the most desirable to everyone but that is not the case. Some would want that, but others would be attracted to different qualities and not influenced by perception of a certain name. That's the whole point; without 'branding' you would notice the qualities of all the choices. And ALL the salesmen get to pick who to sell to based on who they think would be the best fit. Is a fast car with super quick acceleration and high maintenance too much for you? Not a good Porche fit. If you are looking for traditional, understated and really classy, then your car is a Volvo. Want a great all-around, easy to drive car without drama? Mazda. Sporty carefree nature lover is a natural for a Jeep. Etc etc etc
