Say a bunch of PNMs are like a 6 out of 10 on the looks scale. That's not all that matters but whatever. They all get cut from everything but the lower tier. So they drop because they're all 6/10 and they think the lower chapters are 4/10. Meanwhile this makes space for the girls who are 4/10 and had realistic expectations to join that chapter. But if the 6/10 girls had just stayed in, you'd have a whole pledge class of prettier girls. There are a lot of other factors at work and this is a very shallow way to look at it, especially as looks have nothing to do with the quality of sisterhood in a chapter. But if PNMs would just get through the whole process they might not be so hurt at the end of the week. They might find themselves at a house they thought they didn't want, surrounded by other girls who are a 6/10.
