Yup, exactly! The vast majority of girls in DG/Theta/SDT can have a "genuine, engaging" conversation with a brick wall. I know this is quite blunt, but maybe the OP didn't give as good of a first impression to those houses as she thought. The girls recruiting want to make you feel comfortable, so they'll be polite and put on a happy face and keep the conversation flowing, even if they aren't digging what they're hearing. It's only polite, and we all have to get through those marathon recruitment days somehow.
