I'm not sure what you mean by sending portfolios to houses. You should have already registered online then the people that send recommendations for you usually include your resume and picture. I supposed that some people do it differently and you can just send your resume/pic and the people writing recs send only the recs (and that's perfectly fine). Sorry I couldn't be more help, am just not sure what you mean.
