The reduced focus on any-and-all legacies is honestly a bit liberating. A girl shouldn’t feel obligated in any way to be in their mom’s sorority. Kappa and Chi O are the big two here with the legacy mentality, where many alumni moms raise their daughters to want that house. These are the same moms who cheered in high school (or danced, or did pageants) so of course daughter should want to do the same thing. It reeks of moms living vicariously through their kids. Many Arkansas girls want to follow their own path even if it means not going to their legacy house, and normal mothers are beyond okay with this.
