A year like no other!! Over 2300 pnm’s! Media attention on bama rush takes off leaving houses scrambling to make catchy original social media post. Work week takes a turn for pi phi which I won’t disclose for fear of this post being taken down. I think pi phi is an amazing sorority and know they overcame the rocky start to rush week. Videos takes the place of an in person first round leaving the more unpolished pnm’s and chapters at a disadvantage Mid houses ( especially tri delt ) cut in record numbers after round one leaving many sad, scared pnm’s. DG made its way out of the bottom three spot with many pnm’s being impressed with their video Cuts before sisterhood surprises even the gamma chi’s with top houses not making it to five party day Axo had their best recruitment in years Pnm’s had no problem preffing phi mu over a higher ranked house Zeta shocked everyone ( including zetas I have talked too) with their amazing recruitment and exceptional bid day. No doubt zeta recruitment at Alabama gave them an emotional boost as well as awakening some pnm’s to their chapter at the beginning of rush. Chi omega did suffer some cuts however per usual they still had the highest retention rate leading up to pref. Kappa suffered more cuts than usual ( as did all top houses) however their biggest disappointment came from a lack luster bid day. Their pledge class deserved more effort. All in all I do think times are changing even faster than houses can keep up. The competition between houses have amped up with social media proving that it is even more important to pnm’s than grades and awards. The lack of newer houses on campus is a real struggle for everyone involved in uark rush and the amount pressure put on the current houses to guide and have their pledges flourish has to be overwhelming. The amount of effort that must take place for the leadership to simply carry on chapter meetings, ceremonies as well as the astronomical task of smoothly ran functions can not be under valued. Best of luck to all the amazing 11 houses at uark and to the over 2100 new members of Greek life!
