Robes, words, songs, candles and other ceremonial props, and the actives have to rehearse ahead of time so they all know their place and what to do when. These ceremonies were all invented when the sororities were founded, like 100 years ago, so consider that if you think there's anything salacious or occult or harmful going on. There's not. The worst thing that happens is when someone gets the giggles. Every sorority has a national ritual advisor and there is one at the chapter level too to ensure that everyone gets it right and there aren't any deviations from the original ceremony. It's a nice tradition and they are meaningful, but really, there's nothing much to see here.
