- You've got it backwards, Janey. The sororities do the choosing; pnm's do not drop houses and sororities do not have to ask back anyone. The sororities are making the decisions of who to ask back and who to drop and the whole process is driven by the computer algorithm that will give every pnm as many invitations back as possible based on the allowed amount per round and the invitation lists of the sororities. - Your rankings are just rankings, and aren't necessarily going to reflect which sororities you are actually going back to. You need to understand that houses that you want to go back to are going to drop you. That's a fact and happens to the vast majority of pnm's, so you then need to get over it quick and concentrate on the houses that do want you back. The algorithm will put as many houses on your schedule that it can in order to maximize your options for a bid, and that's why houses you rank low will keep coming back on your schedule; there is room on your schedule because houses have dropped you. Go to them with a smile on your face and graciousness in your heart because they are still interested in you. They don't know that you ranked them low. - Your rankings only come into play if more houses want to ask you back than are allowed for that round. In that case, the algorithm drops your lower ranked houses for you. But that's not what happens for the majority of pnm's, and getting a full card back, or getting back all your chosen houses, does happen but should not be your expectation. - Pref round is different...will make a separate comment.
