Connections are everything for the top two houses. Lots of lots of pmns with 4.0's, 30+ act scores, school activities, leadership positions, volunteer stuff, and with perfect reputations etc were all cut by these two houses the first night. we knew of several pmns who did get in these houses with less than steller resumes - all due to connections. as much as it sucks to be released, you'll likely have a much better connection in a different house who actually picks you because they like who you are.
