Cross cutting no more

No! It's a thing of the past thanks to Quota Plus. In the old days of bid matching, some girls who attended pref still didn't get a bid, even though they would have been on both houses' bid lists somewhere, because they were mismatched, or cross cut. A girl would rank her houses #1 and #2, but when her #2 house had her on their first list and her #1 house had her on their second list, each house was likely to reach quota before either of them matched to her. And when a house reached quota they were done and could not take anyone else. So she was shut out of a bid at both and it was so sad because most times she would have wanted either house and obviously both houses wanted her. Now, with Quota Plus, this still happens but a pnm is guaranteed a bid if they rank both houses, even when it puts a house over quota! Yay! The chapter membership has no idea who is a quota addition, or how a pnm ranked them, and nor do the pnm's. It's a bid! If you SIP (suicide) and don't rank that second house on your card, you are NOT eligible to be a quota addition and if you don't match with that one house you aren't getting a bid. If you only have one invitation to pref and you attend and put that house on your card, you are getting that bid, and can be stress free! Whoo!
