The higher number of PMNs doesn't mean cuts will be worse. I'm a math major, so here are some statistics: According to UARK, 93% of women are placed. This means that if there are 1500 women registered, 93% on bid day would be 1395. 1395 divided by 11 houses would make a quota of around 126. 126 x the 5 top houses is 630. This means that 45% of the bids will go to these houses. Let's say the number this year is 2150. (Just a random guess, but the recruitment office did say it is a record number.) 93% on bid day would be 1999. This would make a quota of around 181. The 5 top houses would get 905. Again, 45% of the bids will go to these houses. Unless the university enforces a lower quota number for the top houses, PMNs will have the same mathematical chances they've had for the many years. I would doubt the university would lower quota numbers for specific houses, but I cannot imagine having a pledge class of close to 200!! Good luck to all those going through recruitment!
