<strong>Subject:</strong><br />Reality of Recruitment<br /><br /> Poster Message:
You'll hear from so many members that recruitment is this magical week where you'll find your forever home. But, people don't really talk about what girls actually go through that week. I'll be honest because I feel like it's not being discussed, but recruitment can really affect some girls after. It can be so emotionally draining. You aren't able to have your phone from 6 AM until you get home at night. On pref, you aren't even able to talk AT ALL until you are in the houses you have left. You are constantly trying to leave a good impression on the girls you talk to. When you are cut from houses, a lot of girls start questioning and doubting themselves and why they would've gotten cut. Did they say the wrong thing? Why didn't they like me enough to want to keep me? The messed up part is, they probably will never find out. They also can feel insecure about only having "bottom houses" left when their roommate or other girls they've talked to still have some "top houses". Then, if some girls end up dropping because they don't like the houses they had left or the one they ended up with, they're constantly reminded of greek life all the time. Through social media, seeing greek letters on campus, functions, it's everywhere here. People are always asking, "what sorority are you in?" And then you feel the need to explain yourself. But it's all about trusting the process right? Don't get me wrong, some girls don't get as invested in the process as others and this doesn't happen to everyone. But I have definitely seen this happen and it's something to be aware of.
