This is part of what is on nationals page. A 125-year-old organization, Chi Omega is not exempt from history. As our Fraternity has grown, we have expected our collegiate chapters to be representative of the female population at our host institutions, though we recognize that many of our own chapter experiences may not have been particularly diverse – nor was inclusivity always encouraged in our chapters” —-May not have been? How could they not know that the majority of their chapters were mostly, if not all, white? Way to throw shade on your chapters instead of acknowledging they are that way because of the culture that has been present since we were founded. You are just as responsible as the chapters you are trying to blame for lacking diversity. “Sisters, we are even more disappointed that, despite Chi Omega’s Policy on Human Dignity and extensive education on cultural appropriation and bystander behavior, even today we have collegiate Sisters making insensitive and offensive decisions in action and on social media that often cost them their lifetime Chi Omega membership, and cause irreparable harm to those” —-Threatening members like they are children. Are you concerned that true feelings of members will come out? The same feelings that have played a vital role in the culture you all have contributed to and created over the last 125 years? Worried your members will express opinions that are only openly discussed and excepted behind closed doors! “”And listening we are … dozens of emails, phone calls, social media messages, and texts from Sisters of all backgrounds and generations, sharing a myriad of perspectives Your Governing Council has appointed an ongoing Special Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. our S.K.A., and CEO, will lead this critical and strategic effort that will include participation from Sisters, Black Women and Women of Color, and subject matter experts” —-When you were “”listening”” and decided the governing council, would be in charge of picking the SKA and CEO to LEAD this critical cause how many of POC are on the the governing council and how many POC did they select to be in charge? Just assuming the people picking the people would pick POC to be in charge!!! diversity equity and inclusion should probably be led by those who have actually dealt with equality and racism issues personally.
