Yes, 2-3 recs without letters is ok. The rec is a long standardized form for each sorority. It's very time consuming to fill out so some alumnae prefer to have one person write the official rec and then other alumnae will write LOS, which are just personal letters telling about you and why you'd be a great "XYZ." The rec has all your info like GPA, class rank, family info, Greek relatives, etc and the LOS is more informal like "SuzyPNM knows SallyXYZ and SadieXYZ from high school dance team and went to Camp ABC with SophieXYZ for 8 years.
