The fraternity having a charter is proof they have insurance. IFC recognition just means the fraternity is registered with the school. That recognition has nothing to do with the fraternity's ability to operate or possession of insurance. When you pay dues to nationals (which every member of a fraternity with a charter does), part of those dues go to insurance. In the past, fraternities without recognition have had their charters pulled almost immediately, which was what killed them. If these guys can keep nationals off their backs, they'll be fine.
