I agree with so much here and disagree with so much too. It does make greek life look bad when a chapter dissolves. It's sad all the way around. There are always different reasons when chapters have to shut down. Some times they get kicked off campus (usually the frats lol), sometimes they just can't meet membership numbers, sometimes nationals shuts them down because of complaints and liabilities (usually hazing stuff). This didn't happen overnight with AGD. I have a couple close friends who were part of that chapter (I am not an AGD, I am in another chapter). My 2 AGD friends confided a lot in me for a while. They both predicted this outcome. Of course it wasn't what they wanted but they watched several AGD sisters literally bully others both in the house and outside the house. Some members (both my friends included) asked to have a meeting to deal with how members were treating each others as well as non members. The ones doing the bullying (not a small group. Majority of members so it is intimidating to go up against such a big group) got wind of it and all hell broke lose. A couple were caught cheating and got academic dishonesty marks on their transcripts which causes some divides to happen on how the situations were dealt with. Exec turned on each other and basically said they didn't really care what happened to the sorority, they refused to budge from their position on various matters. Nationals came down amd visited and saw all the ugliness in person including a physical fight between two members. All that piled up and nationals said they needed to shut it before they damaged their reputation at a national level and the girls at that point (the majority but not all) didn't try to fight it. They said whatever because they couldn't even stand to be around each other anymore so they figured what was the point of trying to fight to keep it. I would agree with the one who said they can't blame others. Their actions directly caused this result. It was a long build up so it wasn't like a couple bad days. It was a pattern and long term. Hopefully other chapters can use them as an example so they can understand the importance of being kind and not getting yourself into that situation.
