Most sororities, in a majority of situations, prefer an initiated member "go alum status" over dropping. Alum status doesn't have the terrible burden of "trying to rejoin" because you are still a sorority member when "going alum status". There is NO NO NO automatic rejoining in a year or two if you completely drop out after initiating! Sororities have better things to do than 'let back in' someone who intentionally broke her initiated bond.
