Short Answer: Yes. Long Answer: Racism still exist in the world and panhellenic is not exempt. UH isn't nearly as bad as say TAMU or Alabama, if you're a woman of color you still have a near equal chance of getting a bid. But at the end of the day who gets invited back to a house is decided by living, thinking sorority women and those women may hold prejudices just like anyone else. I saw it in my own chapter last fall, and fortunately it wasn't an issue. But it exists. Overall your personality is the deciding factor, not your skin color. As you can see all of our chapters have women of color. Some more than others, but if you go through recruitment you are almost guaranteed a bid. If a house doesn't want you because of your skin color then good! That's obviously not a chapter you want to be associated with so they don't matter. Just don't even worry about it. You will face racism on the street, in the work place, anywhere you go, there's nothing you can do about it. So don't let other people's prejudices get in your way of doing something you wanna do.
