<strong>Subject:</strong><br />why the rankings<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Yo guys and girls, could someone give me a good explanation of the reason behind the rankings that are discussed on this board and many others like it. It appeared to me a long time ago that Greek life was about the pursuit of finding some good, lasting friends and connections by joining a house and getting to know its members. So why does it seem like these rankings talked about here tend to represent a underlying and possibly deserved notion of the system, a big contest to see who is better than who.? This is especially confusing when the labels that apply to each house are in a way independent of its current members; based upon established customs and preconceived notions of a group that up until now applied specifically to its predecessors. Is it a popularity contest? Am I missing the point that the purpose of the system is to compete? Would just like to get some feedback. -GDI (if umad, stay mad)
