The culture on this website is not an accurate portrayal of the reality. I remember looking at stuff on here before I rushed and honestly... some of the stuff is true- but 95% is false. Right before rush week, the stuff on here made me expect that girls in different sororities couldn't be friends with one another (bc there seemed to be so much rivalry!) but that is noooott the case. I did find my house and I made friends in 3 other houses because of the rushing process, which I was not expecting to happen at all. There are rude, ignorant, and superficial people in the panhell community, but this can also be said when referring to the people at UCSB as a whole. I have met people that are WAY more entitled in my bio lectures. I joined a sorority my second year at ucsb (i'm a senior now) and I am so glad that I did. Being in the Panhellenic community has made me strive to be better and I feel like I have a stronger sense of community in IV. At the end of the day, I recommend rushing if you're interested. If you find girls that you click with, that's great! If not, you can always drop. IMO, It's better to try it out and see if its for you than to feel any sense of regret later on.
