I'm in Alpha Phi at Hopkins, and I love it! As far as commitment goes, I'd say all five of our sororities require the same amount of commitment. Hopkins is a tough school, and your sisters/friends will always be there for you, which also means that the people running each sorority understand that we all have other commitments and may not be able to attend everything. As long as you can communicate with whoever is in charge if you have to miss required events (there aren't many) you'll be fine in any group! For me, being in a sorority actually boosted my GPA. I gained a network of people to study with who were/are taking the same classes as me and people who already took the classes that help us. I don't think you should worry about the time commitment, but try to think about the support system you'll have and all of the resources you didn't have before. On top of that, it's reassuring to be surrounded by people going through the same things as you, and it can help with stress simply because you know you're not alone. I'm so glad I joined APhi and everyone I know that joined any of our sororities feels the same way, they're an amazing support system and I definitely think you should go for it! If you decide it isn't for you, that's fine, but definitely give it a shot :)
