Alpha Phi was never low-ranking? Um. Maybe if you're only looking back 3 years. Back when the original Theta was still here the rankings were very different. Phi Mu and Theta were unquestionably the top sororities. Phi Mu was the most attractive but also known for being the rich boarding school girls who generally went on to be pretty successful after college. Doesn't seem like that's changed a lot, honestly. Theta (the old Theta) was top, but below Phi Mu. They were mostly the hot athletes and hard partying girls. Definitely more wild than Phi Mu. Hence, the reason they got shut down a few years later. Alpha Phi was JUST getting to be "middle tier" after spending a long time being known as the loser sorority. Kappa just... wasn't known. They literally had like 30 girls in the sorority and most people literally didn't even know they existed. If they did know about them they were considered the worst. When the old Theta got kicked off campus Alpha Phi started working their asses off to fill their place. They succeeded. It took a few years but they've now pretty much surpassed Phi Mu, even. To their credit they worked really hard at it, but they're greatly helped by the fact that their recruitment is done by committee. Instead of every member having a vote (as in most other sororities), a small committee of sisters picks the new pledge class, so they can unabashedly pick the prettiest PNMs without any resistance from the rest of the sorority, who may feel differently.
