<strong>Subject:</strong><br />dropping my sorority<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Hey guys, like many girls at Hop I did not come here with the intention of rushing. However, last year I decided to support my friends and rush with them. A few distinct sororities really sold me on their sisterhood and philanthropy and I decided I wanted to continue rushing in hopes of getting into an (unnamed) sorority. Well I got my wish, and I have now been a sister for a few months now. The first few weeks were so exciting, having all the sisterhood events and meeting all of my sisters. Secret week was unforgettable and I had no regrets about pledging, despite the HUGE commitment it would be and the fact that I would have to pay dues. Now that I am a sophomore, I am questioning whether I should drop. Nothing terrible has happened to me, but now that things have settled, I realize a lot of our "selling points" were largely exaggerated to get us to rush. I do not feel a unified sisterhood with my sisterhood, and there is a LOT of talking behind each other's backs and drama, not to mention some other upsetting things. Some older sisters won't even say hi to me on campus, even when I am wearing my letters and we have met before. Our exec board, while very competent, is quite intimidating and I am scared to go to them about any concerns. Same with panhel. This is not why I joined a sorority, and I am wondering, does it ever get better? Is it just my sorority that has these problems? Would appreciate it if I could get some advice, as I am seriously considering dropping.
