Perhaps that is true, however, most of the chapters are a good-sized group and have members with diverse interests, so ultimately they are pretty similar in providing the "sorority experience" and given time, most women find friends they fit with in the strat. Most freshmen are strangers going through recruitment and if they drop because the top houses dropped them or if they did not find an instant connection from a few conversations held mostly with strangers, then can't you admit that is a fairly unreasonable recruitment expectation? I think if you ask any member of any chapter, they would tell you that most of their friends would be from bonds formed with fellow pledge members or members they had stuff in common with, not the women who they met during recruitment (although that certainly can happen). If these women really want a sorority experience, then why not stick it out and see what builds from actually being with chapters that wanted you and invited you back? They could have had all the way up to initiation to see if friendships form. To me that is a most reasonable path and one I am sure quite a few women who accepted bids decided to follow.
