FIU has always had a problem with school spirit and getting attendance at games. Partly because it's still a commuter school (it's still fairly young),and partly because the team hasn't been playing well. This year FIU has been doing amazing, which is surprising, but it's also brought new tailgating restrictions for the Greeks. It's not until the team consistently does well and FIU becomes less of a commuter school that anything will change. Plus, it's Miami and it's difficult to make it feel like a "college town". Thankfully FIU has plans in the works to help change that over the next 20 years. Until then Greeks, students, and alumni will continue to show up to only major games-mostly if there's appropriate tailgates. Just my two cents...
