From the sound of it, I don't think @rush has ever been through recruitment as a member of a sorority. You need to have a 3.2 to be competitive academically. If you don't know have this you will be cut from all top and middle tier houses, unless you are a legacy or maybe have a best friend in the chapter that is fighting hard for you. You need to personable. There's so many girls coming through recruitment, so it's your job as a PNM to try hard to relate to the girl rushing you and make sure you have a memorable conversation (we as recruiter also strive to do the same). An average conversation can get you released from a chapter. Especially if the chapter has high rentention rates, that means they can't invite as many girls back. So why would they invite back a girl who they had an ok convo with as opposed to the girl they had an amazing convo with. You need to look nice during recruitment and be involved. These girls are looking at you to see if you are a person who they would be proud to call their sister. This means you should do your best to look nice and cute, to show the chapter that your morals and standards align with theirs, and what passions and skill you possess that could possibly benefit the chapter (choir, dance and cheer for shows, a lot of leadership positions in HS for campus leadership, etc) To make my point– there is a method to recruitment, good girls slip through the cracks because they either have below a 3.2, have an average conversation
