In all honesty, yes it is much harder to get a bid during the spring than it is during the fall. Each house usually has no more than 20 or so bids to give out. Yes, most of the sororities do know who they want to give a bid to before rush starts which is why it's helpful to have a lot of friends in a sorority. That being said, even though they already have an idea of who they want, nothing is definite and if a girl comes through and they REALLY like her, they'll probably give her a bid. And to the above poster, that's not treating people like crap. During spring rush at every other school, the parties are invite only so to even be able to rush in the spring, you have to know someone who knows someone. At least here the events are open to everyone so even if you don't get a bid, you'll at least get to meet sorority women who can help you get a bid during the fall.
