I can think of one very good reason as to why WVU would want Greek Life here: alumni funding/money. Like most schools with a long established Greek community, a significant portion of alumni funding comes from Greek alumni. They need that funding to prosper. Also, they need Greeks to help promote the campus to future freshmen. An active Greek Life on campus can make or break a decision for freshmen looking to rush, especially if they grew up in the south or are legacies. If they lose alumni funding and the tuition from possible freshmen, the school would struggle and Greek Life would be back in no time. WVU knows this deep down. This happens at a lot of "Greek free" schools. There's also the issue of underground GLOs, which are unregulated by the university and therefore, open to all kinds of issues. Like it or not, Greek Life is a major part of the college experience. Banning it would be a HUGE mistake and setback for WVU or any other university. What they need to do is establish better risk management education for ALL organizations instead of banning parties, socials, ect.
