Unless you're a complete psychopath or do something extremely stupid during rush week, you'll get a bid from someone, don't worry about that. Only 20% of the students at South are Greek and believe me, every Greek organization needs you more than you need them, so you'll definitely get a bid. As far as which house you want, don't start making up your mind just yet until you get a chance to meet all the sororities during rush week. For example, Phi Mu is the top house on campus and a lot of girls get their minds set on joining them because of their rep, but when they actually meet them, a lot of girls don't walk away with a good feeling or vibe for them and end up joining other houses they never even considered. If you have friends in sororities that can recommend you, that definitely helps, but just remember their job is to recruit girls and if you're not comfortable with the rest of the girls in your friend's sorority, it's not going to be a great experience for you in the long-run. You have to do what's best for you, not what your friends or anyone else thinks is best for you. Don't worry about your GPA, not getting a bid, or anything like that. You don't need negativity clouding your mind. Just be yourself, talk to people, and have an open mind and willingness to learn and network during rush week and you'll definitely find the right house for you. And remember, if you don't get a bid from the house you want, it's not because you did anything wrong. It's just they simply didn't think you were a good fit for their organization, that's all. It's nothing personal, it's just business. I've known girls that have been devastated that didn't get a bid from a house they wanted so they just dropped all together and tried again next fall and guess what? They still don't get into the house they wanted next year and then they give up altogether on being Greek and then they graduate and regret they never joined a sorority. Remember, South isn't like Bama where if you only get a bid from a bottom-tier sorority, your social life is basically over for the next 4 years. We only have five sororities at South and all of them are great in their own ways. Again, don't sweat the small stuff, just go through rush and you'll find a sorority that fits you. Good luck PNM!
