<strong>Subject:</strong><br />i just wanted out<br /><br /> Poster Message:
I have been trying to disaffiliate from my sorority. When I joined, it claimed to be different from other sororities and for a few months we were. Now, it's completely different plus I just simply can't afford to pay for this anymore. I hate being a part of this and so I wanted out. When I arranged to meet with the president, I told them I wanted to quit due to financial reasons. But I was told that I still had to pay more than a thousand in dues to quit. She said that I would also have to return everything that has the letters of the sorority on it, even though I paid hundreds for them. I also have to pay all of the dues for the rest of the semester even though I don't want to be in it anymore and won't be participating. I'm being fined left and right for missing events and I'm currently $700 in debt for just these fines. The board has told me that unless my balance with them is at $0 and I do all of the above, I also won't get my transcript when I graduate. This "can't leave until you pay, will add debt as long as you don't leave." thing is really frustrating. I told them I wanted to quit since last semester but they just kept throwing debt at me so I can't officially leave. I just feel trapped and powerless so I'm just here to seek for help and maybe some advice. I'm sorry this is so long.
