Mixers and formals are always an exiciting part of sorority life, however, it takes a while for these things to start happening in a brand new chapter. If you are very patient, then these things will happen. It usually takes a year or two. If you are expecting to have social events immediately after colonization, you are expecting too much. You can plan underground socials and mixers without the knowledge of the Tri Delt consultants who will be helping the chapter for a couple of years. However, the incredible women who will be helping establish the chapter are very smart women and highly trained. They will find out when socials are being planned when they shouldn't be. That being said, becoming a colonizing member of Tri Delt should be about starting an organization with your values as well as attempting to turn it into a chapter that you love. I understand that you are curious about the social aspect of Tri Delt, but if that's what you're mostly concerned about, then you are not in the correct mindset to be a colonizing member. It is an amazing opportunity, but just keep in mind that the social components will not be there a for a while. It is for your own good.
