I dont think a lot of pnm's understand "mixing"- mixers are a closed party with one frat and one sorority. Typically mixers happen Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and most likely Saturday mornings. Yes- you may not mix with certain fraternities, but you aren't missing out on something. Mixers are a ton of fun because you're with your sisters and not random people that you don't know... Just because you aren't mixing with a certain frat doesn't mean you shouldn't join a certain sorority.
