The $3,000 figure came from the pamphlet PAN HELLENIC handed out. Kappa itself estimated it as the average additional costs each member encounters by being a Kappa. My president sent out a survey for my house whole to complete to give our estimated average. We were shocked when we saw the $3,000 from Kappa and have no clue what those sisters are spending that much money on. TL,DR: Figure not made up. Kappa published it in Panhell pamphlet.
