Although the stereotype of the sorority girl is oblivious, self-absorbed, superficial, etc... you will find that at Bucknell, this portrayal remains unfulfilled. In order to gain entry into a sorority, one must have a vast, sometimes esoteric, compendium of knowledge. You must be worldly. Here are some talking points that are forecasted to be brought up in this year's rush process: 1. Afghanistan: Make sure you have a commanding knowledge of the past 200 years of history of this landlocked country. Specifics include: wars against Imperial Britain, the effect of the Durand Line on the Pashtun population, the Soviet occupation of the 1980's. 2. The Gospel of John: Anyone who has read this work of perennial importance should have an understanding of the nature of the Trinity, and you should be able to provide a summary of the theological and soteriological implications of this book. 3. Chess: The most popular pastime for sorority women at Bucknell, be able to hold your own in a discussion of this game's history and some basic moves and strategies. This is not all, but this should be sufficient to carry you through most conversations throughout your rush process. Good luck!
