bottom houses

by: Dawg

Just a question to the girls in the bottom houses but do you guys even try at all? People say it's other girls bringing yalls houses down but it's not. None of the bottom houses had anyone even try and run for senator, and ADPI girls legit made it obvious they didn't care about watermelon fest (walking during the games ???? How unspirited can you get??) if they don't want to be bottom anymore then actually try and win something and actually try and be involved. They half ass pretty much everything! If a bottom house wanted to win watermelon fest they could've super easily. But it's like they don't even want to put in the effort. They don't take any of the competitions seriously and they could care less about involvement. Even during recruitment they half ass it! Don't blame people putting you down for the reason you guys are bottom, blame yourselfs.

Being in a sorority isn't about winning competitions. It's about sisterhood. Who cares if we're bottom. I love my sisters and that's what matters. You may see us as "bottom" because we don't win things often. But I wouldn't trade my sisters for the world. I have found a sisterhood that I love and cherish. That's what matters to me. That should be what's most important. Sisterhood.

This was very well said! A close sisterhood is so much more special than winning a contest anyway!

Girls compete with one another, women empower each other. Guess you just don't get it.

What was the point of your post? What good is your post going to do? Because I see it as: people who determine what the "bottom" houses are are the same people who say "these rankings are how it has been and how they will stay." If that's the truth, do you girls in typically lower ranked houses feel like they ANY chance of being treated any differently when it comes to competitions? Or maybe they will focus on other aspects, such as sisterhood and philanthropic efforts. Because they might not have won, but every house was part of Lambda Chi's record breaking year in can donations. So stop being part of the problem (tearing down houses you deem are bottom) and be a part of the solution.

What is the point of this. Who says you are qualified to decide which houses are at the bottom (which I believe none of them are) and that they don't try?? Every house has their own sisterhood and ritual and philatrophy. And if it isnt your house why do you even care so much?

Grow up and and spend your time doing something worth while. Not bashing people on this site.

While your response above was meant to be complimentary, it is not factual. Phi Mu has a long, very successful history at State. They have been in the top 3 for years. Phi MU has had HC maids and senators on board almost every year for the past 30 years. If you don't believe me, go to the Greek office and ask for the data. I think you are sweet and well meaning to discuss phi mu the way you did to show what involvement can bring a group, but I think the truth has to be known. Phi mu has a wonderful history of involvement and that's a fact that can be backed up.

Phi Mu had very low involvement on campus from Fall of 2008-Spring 2011. In the Fall of 2011 the chapter leadership made a strong push for members to become more involved and they have steadily improved involvement ever since. During those years they had very few campus honors and were not very competitive. My sister was an active member of another group at the time but there were several hometown Phi Mus who talked openly about things.

There is an old discussion post that breaks down honors since Fall of 2008. It's accurate for the years covered. Phi Mu is 4th in the number of honors and competition wins.

There is no need to renegotiate history when everyone is agreeing how great Phi Mu is doing in the present. Phi Mu was NEVER a top house. For literally the past 40+ years the top houses have always been Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, and Kappa Delta. Phi Mu was always #4, but didn't have near the honors, reputation, or recognition of the others. It is a FACT that this has not changed until the last decade. No one is denying it NOW. Phi Mu should be proud to be such a great example of what hard work and strategy can do for a chapter. It's silly to act like history never happened, or to act like Phi Mu broke Top 3, when really they just made it a Top 4. half True was right, if other houses want to have wide spread success, they can model after what Phi Mu has done. If Phi Mu wants to slam those of us for saying that, then go ahead because it looks badly on y'all.

I'm not dissing Phi Mu here I think y'all are a great house, but if you think Phi Mu is Top 3 then of XO, KD, and DG who did Phi Mu replace if it's still a Top 3?

They are not top 3. KD DG and CHIO have too much history for any of them NOT to be considered top 3 at this point unless something major happens. Phi mu did not break into the top 3, they simply made it a top 4.

Oh look, another thread about how much the bottom tier gets ignored becomes a thread where the top groups talk about how top tier they are. How surprising. What a new and interesting conversation to have. We're so enlightened by your topness. Please continue.

Can you seriously name one student organization that a "top" house is apart of that pi phi is not because I can't think of one???

This topic is pointless. Yall make it seem like every girl in these houses you are mentioning had absolutely no other choice but to join them. Many of the girls picked the houses they are in today. So why do you care if it's not your house?

Alumni Delegates. Diamond Girls. I'm almost positive they didn't have an OL. Senate. SA Exec/Cabinet.

Pi phi has had diamond girls the last three years.
I was an alumni delegate. Btw.
And not sure about the OL. But the Panhellenic president is a PI PHI!

My point is that y'all talk about how uninvolved certain houses are without even checking your facts. You are just stereotyping these houses for no reason.

Pi phi is one the rise. In my opinion they have passed up tri delt. They have everything it takes to be top except history but in the next 10 years I think they will be top(:

it's also about the number of girls involved and if anyone holds leadership. It's fantastic that houses are stepping up and having girls involved, but that should kind of be a given. Girls should be, and want to be, doing something else outside of sorority. There's a difference between a handful of girls per pledge class being in X amount of organizations, and having almost every girl involved in something and multiple girls in every organizations and leadership positions.

Pi Phi, Zeta, Adpi and Tri Delt all have members in organizations on campus and are involved. They just don't always post it everywhere on greekrank and social media. Contrary to popular belief, girls want to be in these sororities and for a variety of reasons ( legacy status, home town friends and connections, national reputation , liked the girls in the chapter etc ) Get over yourselves with this everyone wants to be in the so called top houses. Just not true!
