spring rush
by: PNMWhat is spring rush like and do all sororities participate in it?

MSU is not a school that has a large spring rush. I believe ADPi spring rushed last year because they are still establishing themselves and gaining numbers. Since they took under quota during rush, I would imagine they will take a spring class but will definitely be looking for quality over quantity. However, they are going to be the only house that spring rushes if they do. Are you coming to MSU in 2016, or did you rush this fall and not get a bid?

I was a spring bid! I can't really tell you how it compares to formal recruitment (I never went through as a PNM) but I honestly really loved joining in the spring. I was contacted by one of the sororities (generally Pi phi, zeta, and ADPi participate) after a friend referred me. They invited me to several events to meet the girls and get a feel for the sorority, and I completely fell in love with the sisterhood. I was so ecstatic when they offered me a bid. Joining in the spring was super low-key and relaxed, and honestly I'm really happy that I waited until spring to join a sorority. My new member class was tiny, but we all got really close as sisters and now I'm proud to call them my best friends. There were a few small things we missed out on, and some events were watered-down versions of what the fall new members had, but honestly to me it was 100% worth it. If you're interested in joining a sorority in the spring, definitely go for it. I don't regret it a single bit.

Not all houses will do spring rush. I believe ADPi will and if you are interested in that house cob is a great way to decide if you would like to be a part of their chapter. Spring rush is much more laid back and it gives you a better chance to meet the girls and get a sense of the girls vs formal recruitment sometimes you have to go off first impressions.
I was a pi phi when we did spring rush and I know a lot of the girls had a great experience and didn't feel so intimidated or awkward. So I would give it a try.
