Delta Gamma sorority chapter comments at Mississippi State University - MSU

I would like to go on record saying one comment. I am a DG here, and I'm not responding to any of the Election issues because that was a while ago and shouldn't keep getting brought back up. Obviously two sides think they are right, so I'm not going to argue it because it's quite frankly immature to still care. I will respond to this because it is a complete lie, the football team did not eat at our house. One player that eats at the house regularly with girls in the chapter came that day, and if I remember correctly, brought one friend with him. That is not the whole the team and that is not uncommon because its happened before and after elections. Sadly everyone jumped on it and added it to the fire.

I have a cousin who is a DG on another campus. Her comments have turned me off and added to my impression of DG at MSU. As to your comment about Professors in another page, I have a relative who is a professor at MSU and the comment concerning the other group came
from him/her. I found this site and decided to post my opinion. Your remarks and rankings almost prove that my observations are true. I will have an open mind during rush, but am also offended by your remarks.

You're right they are VERY intense. It will be interesing to see if you feel the same way after you have been through a recruitment on the sorority side. Chances are that you will have a better understanding of why people make the comments on here.

Regardless of your opinion though, none of these things should be, on ANY sororities boards, not just DG. All this site does is tear apart our Greek system, fuel disagreements, and give incoming girls exaggerated or totally false OPINIONS of every sorority! (except Pi Phi because they do not have a board yet) Our opinions should not influence anyone else about other groups. I personally have a distaste for one certain house, that does not mean that they are not a good sorority or that they do not have fantastic members, it's a personal thing between me and a few of the girls. For no reason would I or should I encourage girls to not pledge there because of it though, or make them look poorly before rush. Maybe I will change my mind after I put on a rush, but I don't think so because I have life long friend in 3 sororities, one being my own, one being DG, and one other, and I could never put those 3 down like this because of it. Of course no sororities should be put down ever.

to "it makes". Just a few years ago the MSU sororities worked well together and supported each other. I will be a senior this fall. During my freshman year one sorority choose to promote itself during Homecoming elections instead of working with other sororities. This completely changed the dynamics if Greek life at MSU. This is the reason for so many negative comments concerning this group. I hate that things are this way now, but they are basically because of the win or die attitude this group has (you can ask any rising senior and they will tell you the same thing).

I am the mother of a PNM in August (you probably won't believe it, but I am really not worried if you do or not). My fellow PNM mother was approached by a DG from her hometown. The DG talked at length to this mother building up DG and bashing other groups. This girl doesn't realize it, but her entire "mother rush" conversation completely backfired in her. The mother was appalled that a sorority member would do such a thing. I am not saying that DG is the only sorority guilty of this, but rushing should between the PNM and active members, not mothers (and only beginning August 11)!! Please think before you talk! By the way, I am not giving any ranking; I had heard of thus website and thought it would be the best way to voice my concern.

As a member of another sorority here at State, I know how intense the month before rush can be and am well aware of the unflattering things said about every sorority, by girls AND their mothers. I'm not defending anything this girl has said, she should not talk about another group, but you as a mother should definitely not be on here causing problems either. I would hate for anyone to voice concern about my house for the sake of making it known we have girls that aren't perfect. As a mother you should be unbiased and wanting your daughter to have a good experience (and her friends who may pledge a house you have a mom issue with). Case in point, while some people may love your advice because it reflects poorly on a good sorority, it should be kept between your gossip circle and not broadcasted for any naive girl to file away before rush. It honestly makes you seem as catty as the DG who ran her mouth and as a supporter of Panhellenic spirit, no group deserves backlash, all are good.

I don't necessarily think the mother who posted was being "catty". She states her comment clearly, does not give s ranking, and offers a reminder not to do this. The mother says "that DG is probably not the only group doing this.". I see it as a reminder not a catty post.

Even if it is happening, it does seem catty to me to bring it to everyones attention just about one group, when like she said, probably every group is doing it.

If she only knows fir a fact about one group, she can only comment on what she KNOWS is true. Maybe it should not have been posted at all, however she also made a good point about all of us not realizing how some talk could backfire on us and hurt our group. Talking to mothers is VERY risky anyhow. Negative comments about other groups should never come out if our mouths.
