Yall, why do you deem it necessary to bash another sorority? Be happy where you are and stop all of this. Yeah, some houses get more members on the Homecoming Court or win more Derby Days but you are in YOUR sorority for a reason!!

be smart! The only rankings on 7/13/12 are all VERY negative except for ZTA who has a glowing post. ZTA is better than that, actually we are all better than that. Try kindness!!!

The posts left by a ZTA yesterday mention a couple of times about the girls telling you they want you then being cut. I just wanted to clarify some of this confusion because it is an issue every year: girls go crying to Panhellenic or their new house with horror stories of a group that said they wanted them and then they were cut. These girls are left feeling blind sided and with a horrible image of the sorority in question. HOWEVER, 9 times out of 10, the PNM just thinks that is what the girl was telling her. PNM's equate a member telling her "I'm so glad you are here today," or "I hope you like it here" to mean "You will be here on bid day," or "We love you being here." Members get into tough spots with girls they know probably wont be back. You have to make these girls feel welcomed just like the ones you know you want badly. No one is going to be unwelcoming or rude to a PNM. So the PNM takes the niceness as a guarantee, then ends up being released.

It is sad but it happens every year. PNM's are cut by a group because they thought it was for sure because the member was nice and acted like the wanted them, which is far better than dismissing the girl you know won't be back. So take these claims with a grain of salt, like everything else on this site. BUT, if a girl literally, word for word, says "We want you. You will be here on Bid Day." be wary. Even if you do end up there, you are never suppose to promise anything and if something happens and that girl was released then she will be more devastated than if the bid was never promised. To my knowledge only one house has done this, and it should be looked out for.

I was told at a skit party that they were wanting to make sure I "had a good time," because they'd "heard so many good things about me" and knew that I was close to my roomie (who was their legacy) and so they talked all about us and how we went to high school together. Attempted to convinced me that was where I needed to be and then released me. It was fine, because I knew I belonged in another house and wound up right where I'd wanted to be since day #1. But I thought it was tacky.

As a girl who has put on a rush for PNM's, a lot of times PNM's that originally are very talked about have to end up being released at some point. I mean each class is 75-90 members and you start the week talking about 200-250 of them. So many times we say we have heard so much about you and we hope you are enjoying yourself, well, because it's true. We have heard great things and we do want you to like us back. We never know what will happen that night, it could be a total surprise that the PNM ends up being released. I think the poster was trying to say that a PNM shouldn't mistake hospitality and flattery for being promised a bid, because often time they do.

COMPLETELY agree with that entire post. I had a friend swear she was promised a bid from me when she came through, and I swear on my pin I never told her she was in. She figured since I was her friend and told her on Philanthropy day that I was so happy she was back (totally true! she had to pick us too!) that it meant she was good. It broke my heart when she was released that night but it hurt worse for her to be mad at me for "lying" to her and "getting her hopes up" just for being friends before her rush. Girls, don't take a friend in a house for granted. We can only do so much and are just as upset if you are cut as we are. And no one ever wants to get a girls hopes up and have it not work. Don't jump to conclusions, please!

You said you only know of 1 house that has promised bids, which one?? I'm nervous since I know several girls in almost every house.

promises a bid before bid day. No group is dumb enough to do such a thing.

To be totally honest, I personally know 4 girls that were promised bids by Chi O and later cut. One is a DDD, one is a Pi Phi, one dropped out then rushed again and went Zeta, and one dropped all together.
