rushing as a transfer sophomore
by: transferi’m going to be transferring here next fall and was wondering if i should rush. i’m a stem major so i don’t want a sorority to be too time-consuming. is greek life big here and will it be hard to make friends if im not in a sorority here? i dont party or go out so would i still fit in?
#2by: do it
Go through recruitment and talk to members and see what you think. There are sorority members who are in harder majors and concerned about grades and who don't party all the time, though social activities like game days and fraternity socials are a big part of sorority life and going to those are inevitable, but you don't have to drink and you can leave when you want. Your first semester is the most time-consuming with required activities but it helps you meet and connect with as many other new members as possible. If you don't rush you will never get the chance again.

Sororities aren't too time consuming unless you decide that you want to be on exec or something like that. The time commitment is very much not too bad to work around as long as you are just a general member. Serving as an officer is a whole other story though. I love Greek life at State because there are so many members who understand that a sorority is so fun and meaningful, but it also isn't everything! I thought that I would never like one, but I love it so much! Also, I am pre med and have balanced things quite well! Try it!

definitely rush!! i went through recruitment as a sophomore and i am so glad i did. the time commitment seems a little daunting but with some time management skills it can be quite easy to manage. i always recommend it especially for transfer so you can jump right in to the culture!!

I wouldn’t do it at this school. The sororities here are a joke compared to the rest of the SEC schools.
