Truth about sororities

by:

I was told to find a reason to cut a legacy. We ranked her super high but had to cut down on legacies. So the advisors told me to find a reason to cut her. She was wonderful! Super smart, pretty, spoke intelligently. I hate this process. I was made to make up a lie. Horrible.

That is a Panhellenic violation. You may not want to risk your membership - but I would turn them in to keep my own integrity.

Curious what reason you used? Not cute enough. Smart, well spoken so she either wasn’t attractive enough for your advisor or not blonde enough.

Total BS. No chapter has to purposely 'cut down' on legacies and wouldn't take such action.
The national policies for legacies have changed so being a legacy now doesn't really help, it is only a slight plus for a pnm. And there is no need to 'find a reason' to cut one because a legacy has to be carried on their own merits just like every pnm. If a legacy is ranked high by the chapter then it's because of her own strengths and they keep her. This is such a troll post.

That can and does happen when girls have a friend they want more than the girl that has everything else going for her but a friend or friends in the house. Rush is nothing but who you know in a house. These girls don’t care about people they don’t know.

Well let me tell you it most certainly did happen. I don’t know you nor you, me. But I will lay everything out to you that my advisor was told to cut some legacies since we had so many. The ones targeted for cuts didn’t seem to be “our type.” So the rushers were told to find a reason to cut those. It’s true and it made me mad when I was asked to do it. I really connected with that legacy. The sorority she pledged was lucky to get her. I love Greek life but it’s that process that I hate.

Sad thing is legacies are not suppose to matter but they do. Other houses knew she was a legacy and if she preferred the house in question first the other houses may have cut her.
Very well could have ended up with nothing.
Whatever house you are speaking of you have a crappy advisor with an agenda.

Many houses could fill an entire pledge class with legacies, that's why there is a legacy cap. Houses have to cut girls and they have to come up with reasons why

A chapter literally doesn’t need a reason to cut anyone, even a legacy.

Worst case, the legacy is daughter of a big donor who wants National to explain why their precious was cut, but that donor is probably done regardless of reason given so why bother.

And legacy caps - not all legacies want their mom’s house and not all moms are control freaks who push their daughters to pledge a certain house no matter what. It usually just works itself out.

Maybe your legacy house dropped you, or your daughter, and you thought coming on here with this story would help somehow. Because that's exactly how this reads and there are enough ignorant people on this site to believe the lie.

There's no reason a chapter would cut a legacy if she was "ranked super high" and made the chapter's cut off. There's no such thing as "too many legacies" because there is no disadvantage whatsoever to having them. It's all how the pnm's are ranked by the chapter, legacy or not.

This is pathetic and doesn't help your situation.

The fact that you state there is no legacy cut off proves you have no idea what happens behind the scenes.
Go away and live in your fantasy world.

I was told that quotas was 98. There were 75 legacies. They did not want that many legacies nor wanted all of them anyways. Sorry I was there and it was the truth.

Who tf are you to tell me what I know and don’t know. I was there and know what my advisor told me to do. There is more to the story but I’m not going to reveal which sorority I am in. My point is there is a lot that goes on and it’s all BS. Don’t take this srat life very serious at all.

I have been watching this thread. If you were told that quota was 98 so you had to cut some of your 75 legacies, well, there's no possible way your story adds up. You didn't know what quota was when you were making your releases. That didn't happen. Sorry but you really don't sound authentic.

I believe you - been in the same situation when I was on the other side. Being on the other side shows how hateful girls can be to just about anyone that doesn’t suit them.
This thread shows how hateful girls can be.
Sorry you were put in that position. Advisor still lives for her sorority days. Pity

Hope you turned your advisor in. You can do that anonymously. She needs to be FIRED.
