Advice from a Recent Alum

by: alum

After seeing a few Instagram and TikTok posts about recruitment, I came to Greekrank (honestly to see if it still existed). Reading a few of these posts, I am so sad to see how toxic it still is! If you are a PNM going through recruitment right now, please understand a few things:

Are there top and bottom houses? Yes, there absolutely are, but that really doesn’t matter much outside of this website! In all honesty, a “top house” is just a house that has a majority of Mississippi girls. There are wonderful things about being in a top house- your house typically wins more competitions and it holds a level of status/prestige. But that is all. Being in a “lower” house just means that you will be surrounded by girls from all over the nation - which is also a great thing, and that will have many perks for you throughout your four years!

We all love the state of MS, obviously we chose to go to school there, but if you plan to live in any other state when you graduate, the sorority you’re in does not matter. I am very rarely asked what sorority I was in, no one includes their sorority on their resume, it just really isn’t that important.

So, if you fall in love with a top house and you are placed in a different house, you are going to be okay. You will have 200+ girls to get to know, and your experience will not be limited by your house. You’ll have the same opportunities to get involved on campus, to go to fraternity events, etc. It is going to be a great four years, and this site doesn’t accurately depict any sorority!

Please keep in mind that the hateful things said on this site are said strategically. People want you to think negatively about certain houses so you’ll pick a different one. I had friends in every single house, and I hope you all do too!
