Not sure what was meant

by:

Last summer, during orientation, I went to the fraternity area to talk to them. When I walked up to the SAE table, I overheard one of the actives ask another “is this the guy?” He proceeded to occupy my time, speaking to me. I went through formal rush and was lead along by SAE until bid night. They cut me that night. I’ve wondered what was meant that day of orientation by “is this the guy?” I did attend several parties at their house prior to rush. Do SAEs really worry about drinking and partying at their house? Do fraternities share information about guys with other frats? I’m just interested in how the process works.

Short answer: yes. Sigma chi and pike and Fiji and kappa sig and sae and I’m sure a bunch of the mid frats all communicate if someone is a big red flag. If they end up getting one frat in trouble that could have repercussions for everyone. Idk you but if they said “is this the guy” maybe some people were really rooting for you but you have something to your reputation that is a stain. Idk. Of all the good frats sae is definitely the shadiest, lie the most, and do the most dirty rushing there’s no question there.

If they had wanted to get rid of you they would have done it earlier. Fraternities vote each night and hanging onto a rushee knowing they are not going to offer him a bid is not what they do, it's a complete waste of their valuable time in rush when they need to focus on the guys they want. The fact that they kept you so long meant that the majority of the chapter liked you. It only takes one guy's vote to hold someone out from a bid. Sounds like that's what happened.
