One of the girls who will be in my dorm said she registered a week before it was supposed to close and that her pnm number was in the 700s. Isn't that normally how many sign up?

No, last year almost 900 women signed up. And the other commenter is right, a lot of girls will end up getting an AXO bid, instead of another house. It’s their first year and pan will do what they can to help them out. This also means smaller pledge classes, Im guessing 70-75 instead of 90. That means that those 20 girls who get cut by a “top house” that they normally would have joined will filter into a “mid tier” house, replacing 20 of their girls pushing those girls into “bottom” houses. This will be an interesting year but I’m afraid it will only really boost the top and mid tier houses higher. Should be an interesting year for sure

Is that variable quota you are describing? 70 girls most houses and 90 girls for AXO?

Otherwise, why would AXO get so many more girls than the other houses?

I think pan announced something like 868 signed up last year.

Does that mean houses will be required to cut more girls every round than what they normally would because AXO is a new house? Like if XO normally cuts 300 of the 850 for round one, would they need to cut 350 or more for go greek this year?

Not necessarily by those numbers, but yes, whenever a new house is added it obviously resets the RFM calculations for everyone. A few things to remember: RFM numbers are percentage-based on past trends and the number of pnm's participating from round to round, and are not predetermined hard numbers; RFM is always adjusted from round to round based on what's actually shaking out during the week; houses are not actually told how many to cut, they are given a maximum number they may invite back that they can't go over (and can cut more if they wish but it's not recommended and hardly ever happens.)

Last year numbers were close to or around 900. So probably around 100 less. I think more girls will withdraw this year with since they will be closed off to alpha chi

To PNMs who are terrified about smaller PCs and big cuts, think of the upsides in how close knit your PC will be! As someone in a pledge class of almost 100, a smaller group of women will give you the opportunity to build even tighter knit bonds! And trust the process, getting cut doesn’t mean a house doesn’t love you, things just didn’t work out!! Especially this year with big cuts, just know you will still find your home and that “tiers” are only a thing when it comes to a very specific group of toxic women! Pan love is huge at MSU

Dramatic , much ? A riot? These moms need to get a life. There are 7 really great houses at State. Only one that is unstable and they will get it back together - staggered quota should help them. And what a great new opportunity with Alpha Chi. To start a chapter and have automatic leadership opportunities is an amazing opportunity. You don’t have to fight all the local 13th grade girls for leadership positions. I’m a senior so I see it differently than I did as a freshman. So glad my Mom stayed out of my decision.

Yes, a riot. It is not overdramatic to say that Variable Quota put everyone up in arms and made a living hell for panhellenic during that time. You can go back through the greekrank posts during that time to see a small glimpse of the drama.

Variable quota was horrible and they are going to do it again I bet! Look for pledge classes of like 60 for chi o, kd and dg

Because some of the rushees are trans women and they don’t know how to classify them. So they are not releasing any numbers.

Go back to bama greekrank. There's plenty there to occupy you. If somebody is trans woman then it's not up to panhellenic to classify them. All the nationals have stated policies on this. Go read them.
