automatic gpa cut offs

by: pnm

Are the gpa cut offs based on each sororities national policy or can the MSU houses have their own?
What I am really wanting to know is which houses have an automatic day one cut off for a gpa lower than 3.30. My weighted is a 3.30 but my unweighted is less. During registration it asked for unweighted which I listed but I am only putting my weighted gpa for recs on my social resume. Is that ok?

Chapters usually require a higher GPA than their nationals.

How do you find out what their nationals are?

You won't find out because they are never published and you don't need to find out. Don't worry about something you can't affect.

You can look at the Panhellenic sorority scorecard and see where the active sorority gpa’s range for each sorority. That may give you an idea of which sorority would be comfortable or not with your high school gpa.

And realize college is harder than highschool (I know…should be a given) with harder classes and freedom and fun grades can slip.

Which GPA do sororities use for recruitment? MSU takes weighted for admissions and sorority registration asked for unweighted, so which one do houses go by?

Did you get a letter from Panhellenic telling you that your HS grades were low and you were in the “red” zone? You need to listen to the other poster and find a sorority takes grade risks.

Not sure if your question is directed at me or the OP. I have not been sent an email by panhellenic. I don't think my GPA is in the red zone so not worried about that.
My question is which one is used for recruitment, weighted or unweighted? Registration asked for unweighted but the university uses weighted for admission.
I think I'm probably border line for academic houses because both of my GPAs are below a 3.4 since I took someone else's advice to look at the grade reports.

The recruitment guide lists zones as

3.0+ green zone; options are not likely to be limited
2.75-2.99 yellow zone; options are more likely to be limited
>2.75 red zone; options are very likely to be limited

Honestly, if you couldn't earn at least a 2.75 gpa in high school you should spend freshman year focusing on your classes, not joining a sorority. I think anyone whose gpa is under a 3.0 is a huge grade risk. College is more challenging than high school; prep, private, or public high school doesn't matter.
